GAS Bass pickups are designed and made on the same way as our guitar pickups. Finest materials, perfect design, high end production, highest grade of quality control, perfect consistency will quarantee the best possible sound for your bass guitar!
Currently we offer pickups for 4 string Telly®, Precision® and Jazz Bass® styled instruments, but there is more to come so stay tuned!
And, above all, we have John Grigoriou, top Greek Bass player and guru, who ordered to us his signature JB pickup set!!!
All GAS Bass pickups are
availavle for testing in G.A.S.!
Note: When comparing
pickup data, we strongly recommend to not judge a bass guitar
pickup by its DC Resistance. This easily measured, widely known
size does not tell that much about the sound coloration that is
expected from a cetrain pickup, when operated on a bass
guitar.
Furthermore, it's the
frequency response curve (frequency vs level) and especially the
resonance peak of each pickup model, that do better describe the
frequency response and harmonic content, which determine the sound.
You may find the resonance frequency on each of our bass pickup
model data (last line, on the bottom of each model's
description).
Apart from this, you have to consider,
that the bass guitar electrics (vol & tone pots, tone caps) as
well as the bass guitar cable will also significantly drift the
resonance freqency towards mellower range and cut the peak in some
dBs.
P-GAS 50
Output: Medium
Our pickup for the archetype of the electric bass, the Telly® style bass. Deep, full sound, rich in harmonics due to the high resonance peak. 0.195" A5 bevel rods, black bobbin, AWG 42 heavy PVA wire.
Resonance: 7,2 kHz, 11dB peak, RDC: 7,8 kOhm
P-GAS 60
Output:
Medium
The pickup for the basic, all-time classic, rock'n'roll bass sound!
Rich sound, with full bass, nice balanced midrange, distinctive highs and smooth attack.
Perfect for any classic style
(thumbing, plucking, muted, etc.).
Wide 0.195" vintage bevel top A5 rods. AWG 42 Poly wire. Black bobbins..
Resonance: 7,9 kHz, 7dB peak, RDC: 12,3 kOhm, AWG 42.
P-GAS 60
Plus
Output:
High
The high output Precision®
pickup, for the aggressive hard rock player who wants a full,
dominant sound. Prefers hard picking style rather than finger
style.
Wide 0.195" vintage bevel top A5
rods. AWG 42 Poly wire. Black bobbins.
Resonance: 7,4 kHz, 7dB peak, RDC: 13,6 kOhm, AWG 42.
P-GAS 70
Output: Low-Medium
A Precision® bass pickup with a more open brilliant sounding. Full sound, with lots of nice "upper mids" presence, mainly due to the (period correct) narrower magnet rods.
Good for classic & also modern styles (thumbing, plucking, muted, slap, etc.).
Perfect for
balancing out dark sounding Precisions®.
0.187" vintage bevel top A5 rods. AWG 42 Plain Enamel wire. Grey bobbins.
Resonance: 8,5 kHz, 7dB peak, RDC: 10,8 kOhm, AWG 42.
Jazz-GAS
60
Output:
Medium -
High
Our 60's style JB pickups are
for the traditional clean, yet warm, mellow Jazz Bass sound. They
support balanced playing styles, offering huge dynamics and smooth
attack, also due to the beveled top rods.
Black bobbins, 0.187" A5 bevel
top rods, Heavy PVA AWG 42 wire. The neck version is RW/RP for
humcancelling when both pickups are in operation.
Neck pickup
data:
Resonance: 6,7 kHz, 10dB peak, RDC: 9,0 kOhm
Bridge pickup data:
Resonance: 6,4 kHz, 10dB peak, RDC: 9,3 kOhm
Jazz-GAS 70
Output:
Medium
Our 70's style JB pickups are
for a more modern, airy, brillant sound. They support more
aggressive playing styles (pick, slap, etc), featuring fast attack
due to the flat top magnet rids.
The 70's also help primarily
"dark" sounding instruments by allowing a more balanced
sound.
Great dynamics. Grey bobbins,
0.187" A5 flat top rods, Plain Enamel AWG 42 wire. The neck version
is RW/RP for humcancelling when both pickups are in
operation.
Neck pickup
data:
Resonance: 7 kHz, 10dB peak, RDC: 7,1 kOhm
Bridge pickup data:
Resonance: 6,4 kHz, 10dB peak, RDC: 7,9 kOhm
Jazz-GAS "John Grigoriou" Signature set
Output:
High
Greek Top Bass player John
Grigoriou asked for a signature GAS-Bass pickup set with a deeper
voicing than the 60's set. We designed and
delivered...
Black bobbins, 0.195" A5 bevel top rods, Polysol enamelled AWG 42 wire.
Neck pickup is RW/RP for hum
cancelling when both pickups operate together.
Neck pickup data:
Resonance: 5,0 kHz, 10dB
peak, RDC: 9,4 kOhm
Bridge pickup
data:
Resonance: 4,8 kHz, 10dB peak, RDC: 10,3 kOhm
All measurements are
performed with our Lemme Pickup Analyzer. Pickups are measured
"Stand Alone", which means without any pot or cable load, as if
they were directly connected to an 1Mohm amp input. Rdc values
measured in 18o C Temperature, and may vary depending on
local weather conditions (temperature variations).
We measure each GAS
model in "stand alone mode" as if the pickup was directly connected
on an amp input of 1 MOhm by a very short non-coaxial cable. The
guitar electric parts (pots, caps, etc.), as well as the cable
used, will certainly affect the resonance of any
pickup.
