About GAS Pickups
Yannis Papadantontakis is the man behind GAS Handmade Pickups.
Born in Athens, Greece, in 1964, he was into music during his school days as a drummer first and joined the guitar later.
- In 1982, he joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Karlsruhe, Germany. During his studies, he went deep into the guitar’s technical side and started modifying guitar electrics professionally in 1985.
- He lived as a professional musician during his post-study years (1990–1993).
- From 1995 up to 2010, he worked in the wireless telecommunications sector, and in 2011, he founded his own lab in Athens, Guitar Aging Studio, offering services (such as setup, mods, maintenance, and artificial aging) to guitar players.
- In 2014, Yannis started with custom pickup manufacturing, and in 2016, he created his own production line called “GAS Handmade Pickups”.
Creating guitar pickups is a combination of science, musical feeling, and technical experience.
Creating good guitar pickups that will make guitar players happy is something that needs more of everything. More passion, more dedication, and more loyalty.
