GASweet
Telly goes PAF
Trademarks: PAF sound on Telly neck. Smooth attack. Woody tone.
Styles: Pop, blues, jazz, soul.
Output: Medium
Retail price: 120 Euros (without VAT) per pickup
A very special-designed pickup for the Telly® neck position.
Using the "not correct" AWG 42 Heavy PVA wire and building a wide coil (with a nickel cover barely fitting in) GASweet offers a rather PAFish sound, open and sweet, with a unique attack, tamed highs, and sligthly scooped midrange.
For neck position only.
Recommended Combinations*:
1. Combine GASweet (neck position) with NoGASter A3 (bridge position) on a typical Telly style guitar and you’ll get the typical Keef tone, without routing the neck position for a humbucker
2. Combine GASweet (neck position) with NoGASter A5 (bridge position) on a typical Telly style guitar and you’ll get a really high output telly set, with lots of aggression, for post/stoner/grunge styles

Introduction
For the proper installation and wiring of your GAS Pickups, we strongly recommend letting a professional luthier or electrician perform this job in order for the pickups to be installed correctly and with no damage, which would harm the pickup’s functionality and warranty.
Delivery
All GAS T Singles are delivered with proper height adjustment screws, and springs (or rubber tubes). Bridge T Singles accept 6-32 x 5/8'' pan head screws. Neck T Singles accept generic wood mounting screws of 1” length; however this depends on the routing of each guitar.
Wiring
GAS T Singles come with two cloth hookup wires, a black and a white one. In the case of a set, the neck pickup is RW/RP, so there will be a yellow wire instead of the white one. Usually the black wires will be grounded, while the white and yellow ones will go hot.
For the desired wiring diagram of your guitar, please refer to the dozens of specialized websites with such diagrams, depending on the desired configuration.
Grounding
T Singles come with metal parts that need to be grounded (a cover for the neck pickup, a base plate for the bridge pickup).
If delivered as a set, the metal parts will be grounded on the black wire, so no further work is needed; the set will work properly, and both pickups will be in phase.
When a neck T Single is purchased separately, we recommend delivering it with a separate grounding wire for the cover in order for you to be able to wire it in the correct phase with any one T pickup. This is, because if the cover is already grounded to the black wire, it is not possible to swap wires in an out-of-phase case.
If a bridge T-Single is purchased separately, we simply won’t connect its base plate with any of the wires. A Telecaster® bridge is usually grounded separately, so the base plate of the T bridge Single will be grounded also. In this case, you may also swap wires in an out-of-phase case.
Pickup height or string distance
There is a lot of conversation on this item. The fact is, there is no absolute guidance for a generic pickup height adjustment! The distance of a pickup to the strings is dependent on countless factors, such as pickup output, pickup position, string gauge, the guitar itself, the guitarist’s overall playing technique (string hitting, etc.), and the musical styles that are about to be covered. In the case of a pickup set, usually the pickup height is adjusted so all pickups show a similar output level, but this is not a rule. Our recommendation: The desired pickup height adjustment is a procedure that may last longer than you think; just start with a generic distance of 2mm on the e strings and repeat the procedure (adjust, play, listen, re-adjust) until you are satisfied. Don’t forget to adjust in small steps (e.g., one full turn of the height adjustment screw each time) in order to easily come back one step if you are not happy with the new situation. And, trust us, if you just repeat the whole thing a couple of weeks later, you will probably find yourself re-adjusting the height again. It is something that each musician should go through by himself.
Dimensions
GAS T Singles are direct replacements for Telecaster® guitars and similar models.
The dimensions for neck and bridge pickups are as follows (sizes in mm):

Do GAS T neck models have a different polarity than GAS T bridge models, so that the middle position becomes hum-free?
Yes, GAS T models are built RW/RP from neck to bridge.
-
Is there a recommendation for GAS T Singles neck and bridge combinations?
Usually the lower output GASmooth is combined with TwanGAS, The Messiah, and sometimes also the BroadGASter. The higher-output GASmooth Plus is combined with the BroadGASter and both NoGASter models. GASweet is a solution for a fat Telly neck (almost P90-PAFish tone) and can be combined with any bridge model.

Some Τ singles are available with flat pole rods, others with beveled top rods. What’s the difference?
When comparing poles from the exact same alloy, flat pole rods allow a faster, sharper attack and the highest dynamic range, due to the more rapid change of the magnetic field at their edges. On the contrary, beveled top rods lead to a more smooth attack, are easier to play and offer a naturally, slightly compressed sound that results in more sustain. Watch the video below (preferably in a good audio system) and listen to these differences.
